NASHVILLE, TN – May 12, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Total Quality Logistics (TQL) officials today announced the transportation services company will expand its operations in Tennessee by opening a new location in Shelby County. The company will invest $1 million to open a sales office in downtown Memphis to meet the needs of its expanding client-base, creating at least 100 new jobs over the next five years.
This is TQL’s third expansion in Tennessee in just over a year. In January 2014, TQL invested $1 million to open its first Tennessee office in downtown Nashville, committing to create 105 new jobs by the end of 2016. The Nashville office already employs nearly 60. In March 2015, TQL invested $1 million to open its second Tennessee office in downtown Knoxville, committing to create 100 new jobs over the next five years. TQL’s Knoxville office is slated to open in July 2015 and hiring has started at www.tqljobs.com
“When a company like TQL chooses to expand three times in the span of a year and a half, it makes a real statement about Tennessee as a true business partner and the kind of employees companies can count on for success,” Boyd said. “I want to thank TQL for continuing to invest in Tennessee and creating these new jobs for our communities.”
TQL is one of the fastest growing providers of transportation logistics services in North America, connecting shippers who have product that needs to be moved with truckload carriers who have the capacity to move it. The company works with thousands of customers and more than 50,000 carriers across North America to move more than one million truckloads of freight per year. TQL moves approximately 3,500 different types of commodities including fresh fruits and vegetables, packaged foods and beverages, meat and poultry, machinery and equipment.
“We are certainly excited to open our third Tennessee location in Memphis. We would like to thank the Department of Economic and Community Development for their assistance and the people of Memphis for welcoming us to the largest city in the Volunteer State,” said TQL President Kerry Byrne.
“We are pleased to welcome Total Quality Logistics to Memphis,” Susan Hadley Maynor, Vice President of Economic Development for the Greater Memphis Chamber, said. “TQL knew they needed a central location and quality logistic-based workforce. Downtown Memphis offers both.”
“TVA and MLGW congratulate Total Quality Logistics on its latest announcement to add 100 new jobs in Memphis,” TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley said. “We are pleased to partner with the State of Tennessee, the Greater Memphis Chamber, EDGE, City of Memphis, and Shelby County to support existing business and industry growth.”
TQL’s Memphis office is expected to open in August in an existing building in the heart of downtown located at 100 Peabody Place.
Anyone interested in openings in Tennessee can start the process online at www.tqljobs.com. Hiring for the Memphis location will begin in July. Prior experience in the logistics industry is not necessary as new hires with the company participate in a 26-week training program. TQL offers its salespeople the opportunity to earn unlimited commissions in addition to their base compensation once they have successfully completed training.
