MAAR Donates to REALTORS Relief Foundation

MEMPHIS, TN – July 6, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — In its June Board of Directors Meeting, the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® voted to give a $7,500 donation to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation.

The action comes in response to a stormy spring in which communities across the Southeast and Midwest were hit by tornadoes, damaging winds and severe flooding.

“From Missouri to Alabama, communities and neighborhoods are rebuilding,” said MAAR President Leon Dickson. “We wanted to help move them a little closer to a brighter day.”

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) first launched the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) as the REALTORS® Relief Fund in 2001, within hours of the devastating Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Since then, more than $20 million has been raised for victims of disasters including wildfires, tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. The foundation distributes 100 percent of all funds collected to disaster relief causes and guarantees all donors that 100 percent of donations will be used for an appropriate disaster relief effort. To join the effort to help those affected by the disaster, you can make a tax-deductible contribution online to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, or you can mail a check payable to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation to: REALTORS® Relief Foundation, 430 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611.
