Knoxville's Appalachian Mountain Bike Club's project to build a world-class bike trail in the Urban Wilderness is a finalist in the Eastern Region of the Bell Helmets Trail Building Grant program. The winner will be determined by online voting that starts on Monday, May 11, 2015.

A 100-year-old Island Home Park neighborhood pillar demolished by an errant commercial truck driver is being repaired, and City of Knoxville traffic engineers have added additional signs to direct drivers of commercial vehicles to safely use the designated truck route while a section of Island Home Avenue is closed.

The Shelbyville Housing Authority received a grant from Tennessee Housing Development Agency to construct supportive housing for Bedford County residents. Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) made the $90,000 Housing Trust Fund grant at its November Board of Directors meeting. The grant was one of 11 totaling $2.8 million that were approved by the board.

Tennessee Housing Development Agency recently approved Guild Mortgage Company as its newest originating agent for affordable mortgage loans. The new designation will allow Guild Mortgage to begin immediately originating mortgages under the THDA Great Choice loan program.
