Cohen Announces $135K for Affordable Housing in Memphis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 14, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced United Housing in Memphis has been awarded $135,000 from NeighborWorks America to help finance the rehabilitation of affordable housing throughout the city. 

“Memphis suffers from one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation,” said Congressman Cohen.  “These new funds will help rehabilitate homes in affordable housing communities throughout Memphis.”

NeighborWorks America is a national nonprofit organization that provides financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts.  United Housing, Inc. is the Memphis branch of the NeighborWorks Network, a group of 230 community organizations.
