MEMPHIS, Tenn., - November 14, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- Memphis-area home sales for October were flat from a year ago, with 1,378 total sales recorded in the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® MAARdata property records database. Total sales were up 5.3 percent from September. Average sales price YTD rose 10.7 percent to $143,200. Inventory was down 0.9 percent with 6,615 units listed for sale. Sales volume YTD increased 20.6 percent to $1.99 billion
HUD APPROVES $7.5 MILLION DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN IN TENNESSEE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - November 6, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today approved a disaster recovery plan totaling nearly $7.5 million to help Shelby County, Tennessee to recover from severe storms, tornadoes, straight line winds, and flooding in May of 2011. Total sales were down 23.1 percent from August. Average sales price YTD rose 10.2 percent to $142,738. Inventory was up 1.2 percent with 6,678 units listed for sale. Sales volume YTD increased 21.1 percent to $1.78 billion.

City, County Propose Support for South Waterfront Development
WASHINGTON, D.C. - September 27, 2013 - (RealEstateRama) -- A planned $165 million development on the former Baptist Hospital site along Knoxville's South Waterfront is moving forward, and the City of Knoxville and Knox County are proposing a tax-increment financing (TIF) transaction to support it. The proposed TIF would be authorized by an amendment to the existing Knoxville South Waterfront Redevelopment and Urban Renewal Plan, and would cover the property running along both sides of Blount Avenue from the Gay Street Bridge to just west of the Henley Bridge. A public hearing on the TIF proposal has been set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10th, at the KCDC offices at 901 N. Broadway.
