ACDC Dedicates Two New Homes

-

Columbia, TN – September 20, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Advent Community Development Corporation (ACDC) has scheduled a pair of home dedications September 26 at 10 a.m. The homes were built on land where blighted and dilapidated structures were removed.

ACDC, the nonprofit arm of Columbia Housing and Redevelopment Corporation, partnered with the City of Columbia and Tennessee Housing Development Agency to implement HUD’s NSP (Neighborhood Stabilization Program) in Columbia’s designated Redevelopment Areas. ACDC acquired blighted properties and replaced the dilapidated structures with new energy efficient three-bedroom, two-bath homes. The properties were marketed with down payment assistance to qualified buyers. Potential buyers were required to complete a prepurchase homebuyer education program.

Two of the homes were purchased through THDA’s “Housing Voucher (Section 8) to Homeownership Program.” THDA’s Executive Director Ralph M. Perrey, Columbia Mayor Dean Dickey, and ACDC Executive Director Trent Ogilvie will be on hand to help celebrate the success of the Booker family and the Kinzer family in utilizing THDA’s Housing Voucher to Home Ownership Program. The NSP Program has sparked improvements in the area, including sidewalk improvements by the City of Columbia, and other new construction nearby.

Many partners have worked together for these successes. US Bank provided mortgage financing through its American Dream mortgage product. Community Housing Partnership of Williamson County provided pre-purchase counseling.
