THDA Launches Interactive Map of Affordable Rental Housing

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Tennessee Housing Development Agency has launched a new interactive map with details on every active or under-construction apartment community in the state built or rehabbed with the assistance of federal tax credits.

The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program is the only government incentive available statewide to promote the private development of affordable rental housing. Last year, THDA allocated more than $222 million in federal tax credits to developers to make possible the construction or renovation of nearly 5,000 affordable apartment units throughout the state.

The interactive map allows users to zoom into any county or area and find a dot for the location of every active or under-construction multifamily development that has been awarded federal tax credits by THDA since 1989. Clicking on the dot will reveal detailed information such as the property’s address, number of units, and tax credit value, as well as a link to unit availability and application information viaTNHousingSearch.org.

This map is intended as a valuable resource to potential renters, as well as anyone with a professional interest in how well served an area is, including researchers, reporters, elected officials, planning commissions, and multifamily developers.

The map is found on the program data page of the Research & Planning section of the THDA websitehttps://thda.org/research-planning/thda-program-da….
