Homeownership Preservation Foundation and Tennessee Attorney General Partner on Statewide Hotline to Facilitate Distressed Homeowners’ Access to Mortgage Relief Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 13, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF), an independent national nonprofit dedicated to helping distressed homeowners navigate financial challenges and avoid mortgage foreclosure through its Homeowner’s HOPE™ Hotline, and Tennessee Attorney General Bob Cooper announced today that they have partnered on a statewide hotline to facilitate distressed homeowners’ access to available mortgage relief programs.
A public service advertising (PSA) campaign launched this month alerts struggling Tennessee homeowners to relief programs they may be eligible for through the state’s participation in the National Mortgage Settlement and its own Hardest Hit Fund. Homeowners with mortgage challenges are encouraged to call a dedicated hotline that was created specifically for state residents at 855-876-7283 to receive free, reliable information and referrals to foreclosure prevention and mortgage assistance counseling. Callers to the hotline can choose to receive telephone counseling by HPF’s HUD-approved, trained, professional housing counselors, the same network that served as the primary consumer response team for several federal housing relief programs in recent years via HPF’s Homeowner’s HOPE Hotline.

Tennessee homeowners can speak to an HPF counselor for free by calling the special toll-free number established by the Attorney General’s office at 855-876-7283. The hotline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. Referrals to a local nonprofit counseling agency are also available through the hotline for residents preferring to meet with a counselor in-person and at no cost.
