Congressman Cohen Requests Federal Inquiry into Conditions at Peppertree Apartments

-

Washington, D.C. – January 14, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today sent a letter to Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Julian Castro regarding the safety and living conditions at the Peppertree Apartments in Memphis.

“I am concerned about recent reports regarding safety and security problems at the Peppertree Apartments, a federally subsidized complex in Memphis,” said Congressman Cohen. “According to media reports, Memphis Police were called 1,200 times to the complex last year. Tenants have also complained of rodents, as well as bedbugs and broken appliances. If these reports are accurate, this is deeply disturbing. Tenants deserve clean, safe, and fully functional housing.”
