Perrey Elected NCSHA Vice President

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Executive directors from all 50 state housing agencies have cast their votes, and Tennessee’s Ralph M. Perrey has been elected vice president of their national organization.

The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) is hosting its annual conference in Miami this week. Elections for the organization’s five-member executive committee were held Sunday, Sept. 25. Perrey, who leads the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA), previously served two terms as secretary/treasurer of the organization.

“I am honored that fellow executive directors have entrusted me with this new position, especially when there is a new president coming to the White House in January. This is going to be an important year for our organization and an opportunity to shape the conversation on affordable housing for the next administration,” said Perrey.

As a member of the executive committee, Perrey has been a strong advocate for the unique role state housing agencies play in the nation’s housing financial system and for more flexibility for the states in administering federal programs. Perrey served on the THDA Board of Directors for nine years before being appointed executive director by Governor Bill Haslam in 2012. Previously, he worked for Fannie Mae and served on the senior staff of Governor Don Sundquist.

The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization created by the nation’s state Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) more than 40 years ago to coordinate efforts and represent its members in Washington before Congress, the Administration, and the several federal agencies concerned with housing.
