Outlines Energy Vision to Power America’s 21st Century Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 18, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — In the eleventh in the series of videos introducing the Republican members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., today shares his vision for America’s energy future that unleashes nuclear power, wisely invests in energy research, and protects America’s national treasures.

Sen. Alexander highlights his work on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee to liberate America’s free enterprise system that will provide clean, cheap, and reliable energy coming from many sources including nuclear power.

“The first thing we need to do is unleash nuclear power, which provides about 20 percent of all of our electricity and about 60 percent of our country’s carbon-free electricity,” Sen. Alexander says in the video. “Second, we need to set priorities and use our tax payers dollars wisely and invest in government sponsored basic energy research. That leads to innovation, and to jobs, and to our free enterprise system. Finally we must work to protect the great American outdoors and find solutions to the many challenges facing our public lands from the growing maintenance backlog, to preserving and expanding public access.”

Sen. Alexander’s full video statement is available on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee website. Alexander is also chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy & Water Development.
